I have had her since she was 5 months old. The man i got her from thinks of his rabbits as prizes (he shows them and takes exceptional care of them) and not as pets. So he never gave her alot of attention. I show rabbits but i see them as pets too. She is almost a year now and i really want her to trust me.How can i get my rabbit to trust people?
handle her regularly and when she is nice and confident give her a treat so that she knows that her behaviour is good. Try to give her lots of attention by stroking her and brushing her. You could also get her a friend so that she isnt lonely.
Get some rabbit toys to help her to have fun.How can i get my rabbit to trust people?
Hey, rabbit lady!! Nice to hear from you!!
In any domestic animal, the first few weeks of their lives is the time they either bond with people or not. They have to be picked up, loved on, fed, taken care of. If you miss that window, it's really hard to get them to trust you.
I know a lady who breeds miniature donkeys. After a donkey is born, they keep it in the house with them. She opens his mouth, picks up his feet, and watches TV with the donkey in her lap. This turns out some very trusting and friendly donkeys.
TX Mom
Handle her as aften as you can.
Brush/groom her lots that will make her want to snuggle up.
Teach her to play with a soft toy (not a football it makes them horny).
Try house training her so that she is part of the pack, like a dog she will learn to follow, come %26amp; beg.
I wouldnt recommend another doe in the house because once they reach sexual maturity they will fight over dominancy. Not good. You would end up having two hutches %26amp; only being able to handle one at a time.
Just make sure you are handling her right not throwing her being gentle and not raising your voice at her.
