I have a female mini rex rabbit. she is about 8 weeks old. I know that i shouldn't kep her cooped up all day, but when i let her out after about 10 minutes she starts to use the bathroom everywhere. i can't let her play on the tile because she slips around as if it were ice! i have heard you are supposed to let her out a couple hours a day, and now whe i take her out she tries to hop back in. sometimes she bites.... i don't know what to do.... i am tiredd of cleaning up after her, cleaning her cage every day, and if she poops anywhere outside her cage my mom threatens to give her away. what should i do? also some tips on making her cage smell better would be helpful. How can I allow my rabbit playtime?
she is currently scared. hold her firmly to you and don't let her feel like she is about to fall, because rabbits don't have any equilibrium. when she realizes she can trust you she will calm down, and stop biting. you could also consider wrapping her in a towel and giving her treats by hand to win her over.
also put a litter box with a different kind of litter in it in the corner she uses the most. she will start going to the bathroom there and then she will be able to hop around your house if you place the litter pan in the area where she is playing. and they also make bunny play areas in which you can place her, or you can buy a leash and take her outside. if she has a big enough cage, buy a few bunny toys for her. they like to throw things, and push balls around.
they make a product that goes in her water that will help her waste smell less as well. you should be able to find it in any pet store. i believe it is called bio-odor.How can I allow my rabbit playtime?
When my rabbit started biting someone told me that she only trying to get the salt that she can sense on our skin and that we should get her a salt lick. Once we did she never bit anyone again. You can get them from pet shops and you need to make sure your rabbit always has fresh water as it makes them thirsty. You may have to let your rabbit hop around elsewhere. You could block off anywhere that your rabbit could get out of in your garden and keep a close eye on her. That way if she poos it won't be a big deal.
